A hotel in Istanbul was evacuated on Saturday after a Turkish-German family staying there suffered suspected poisoning that claimed the lives of the mother and her two young children, according to local media reports.
Guests at the unnamed hotel in the Fatih district, close to Istanbul’s historic peninsula, were moved to alternative accommodation, BirGün newspaper reported.
However, it did not specify how many people were affected.
Two other tourists staying at the same property were taken to the hospital on Saturday after experiencing nausea and vomiting, the paper added, without providing further details.

The family fell ill on Wednesday after eating several popular street food dishes in the Ortakoy area, a bustling waterside neighbourhood beside the Bosphorus Bridge.
They were taken to the hospital, but the two children, aged six and three, died on Thursday, followed by their mother on Friday, the justice minister confirmed.
The father remains in critical condition, Istanbul’s regional health chief Abdullah Emre Guner said late on Friday on X.
While various media outlets have explored different foods the family may have consumed, investigators are also examining the possibility of poisoning from within the hotel.
The Hurriyet news website reported that a ground-floor room had recently been treated with pesticides.
Police have detained a hotel employee and two pest control workers, bringing the total number of people held in connection with the case to seven.
Authorities said the family were Turkish nationals living in Germany who had travelled to Istanbul for a holiday.
