The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has relieved the state Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his duties with immediate effect.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa.
The statement said the decision is part of ongoing efforts to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.
“The decision forms part of the ongoing efforts of the present administration to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions,” the statement said.
Yusuf expressed appreciation for Musa’s service and contributions, wishing him success in his future endeavours.

“We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
In the meantime, the governor has appointed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve in an acting capacity until a substantive Head of Service is appointed.
Musa has been directed to hand over the affairs of the office to the acting Head of Service by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The reshuffle follows political realignments in the state after Yusuf’s defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
