Naira Appreciates Against US Dollar

The Naira opened the week on a brighter note, nudging upward against the United States dollar in the official window on Monday and signalling a positive start to trading.

Fresh figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria revealed a modest but notable lift, with the currency closing at N1,453.84 to the dollar—an improvement on Friday’s N1,456.72 finish. A small margin, perhaps, yet a movement that underscores a slight strengthening of N2.88 as trading resumed.

Out on the streets, however, the story barely shifted. In the parallel market, the Naira held its ground, trading at N1,465 to the dollar, unchanged and unmoved despite activity elsewhere.

All this comes against the backdrop of a quiet but steady rise in the nation’s foreign reserves, which climbed to $44.26 billion as of 21 November 2025, according to updated figures from the apex bank.
