Naira Dips Against Dollar, Lowest in Two Months

The naira fell to its weakest level in two months on Friday, ending the week on a downward slide against the US dollar.

Figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the currency closing at ₦1,450.43 to the dollar, down from ₦1,447.83 the previous day. This reflects a further daily depreciation of ₦2.59.

In the parallel market, the naira closed the week at ₦1,475 to the dollar on Friday — the same rate maintained since Wednesday.

The only day the currency recorded an appreciation during the review week was Tuesday. On a week-on-week basis, the naira lost ₦3.68 compared with the ₦1,446.74 recorded on 28 November 2025.

The decline comes despite an increase in the country’s foreign exchange reserves, which rose to $45.04 billion as of 4 December 2025.
