Naira Weakens Against Dollar in Official, Black Markets

The naira weakened against the dollar across both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets, ending the week on a negative note on Friday.

According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigerian currency slipped to N1,528.56 per dollar on Friday, down from N1,525.83 recorded the previous day. This represented a daily decline of N2.73 against the greenback.

Naira Weakens Against Dollar in Official, Black Markets

Likewise, in the black market, the naira fell to N1,570 per dollar on Friday, compared to N1,560 exchanged on Thursday.

Despite Friday’s losses, the naira had posted four consecutive days of gains against the dollar earlier in the week.
