Nigeria Declares Monday, Tuesday as Eid al-Fitr Holidays

The Nigerian government has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

Minister of the Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Wednesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, congratulated Muslims for completing the Ramadan fast and stressed the importance of this holy month in promoting self-discipline, compassion, and spiritual renewal.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged all Muslims to continue practicing the virtues of love, generosity, and peace, stressing the importance of national unity and religious harmony.

He encouraged Nigerians to pray for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity during the festive period.

“As we commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, let us contemplate the lessons learned during Ramadan, embrace one another with love and forgiveness, and collaborate to create a more united and prosperous Nigeria,” the minister remarked.

He further urged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly while showing kindness to those less fortunate, in alignment with the values upheld during Ramadan and Eid.
