Nigeria: Police Officer Killed as Gunmen Raze Down Police Station

Gunmen have attacked and burnt down a police Divisional headquarters in Arondizuogu in Ideato Local Government Area of Imo state, Nigeria

The attack which happened around 2:00 am on Tuesday left one of the police officers on duty dead.

Sources in the community disclosed that the attack left the Divisional Police Officer of the Division with a broken head after he was attacked by the invaders.

Also, a Sienna vehicle attached to the division and DPO’s personal vehicles were vandalized by the gunmen.

According to local reports, “Gunmen have attacked the Arondizuogu Divisional Police Headquarters. They burnt and killed one of the police officers. They attacked at odd hours and left the DPO with a broken head. They gave him matchet cuts and vandalized his Jeep and a police sienna vehicle belonging to the division,”

The police spokesperson for the command, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the attack to our correspondent in a text message and added that the state Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, had ordered an investigation into the attack.

The police spokesperson wrote, “Yes. The CP is on his way there.”
