At least one person has been killed and five others injured in a series of shooting incidents in Israel on Sunday, authorities have said, adding that a suspect was also killed during a security response.
Emergency service Magen David Adom reported that a man aged about 35 died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attacks. It also confirmed that five injured victims were evacuated to the hospital.
The service said all the injured individuals received urgent medical treatment before being transported for further care.
Police said that a vehicle believed to have been used in the attacks was later tracked down, and a suspect was neutralised near the town of Kokhav Yair, close to the occupied West Bank, and added that search operations were continuing for another possible suspect.
The Israeli military confirmed that one attacker had been killed and said security forces were still carrying out searches in the surrounding areas.
Authorities said the attacks also took place in nearby towns including Tzur Natan and Tzur Yitzhak, suggesting multiple coordinated incidents.
The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had been briefed on the situation and was monitoring developments closely.
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called for the harshest possible punishment for attackers in such incidents, referencing a recently approved law allowing the death penalty for those convicted of deadly terror offences.

He also reiterated that those responsible for killing Israeli civilians should face severe consequences under the law.
