OpenAI has solidified its position as the titan of the artificial intelligence industry by securing a record-breaking $110 billion funding round.
This massive investment, one of the largest in Silicon Valley history, brings the company’s valuation to a staggering $730 billion.
The round was driven by multi-billion-dollar commitments from global tech leaders, including $30 billion each from SoftBank and Nvidia, and a landmark $50 billion commitment from Amazon.
This capital injection is deeply tied to the immense infrastructure needed to build and maintain advanced AI systems.
As part of the deal, OpenAI has formed strategic partnerships to secure its computing future, agreeing to use two gigawatts of capacity powered by Amazon’s in-house Trainium chips while continuing to rely on Nvidia’s industry-leading hardware.
The funding arrives at a critical time, as OpenAI predicts it will burn through approximately $665 billion in training and operating costs by 2030—a figure that has doubled since previous forecasts.

To address investor concerns regarding profitability, OpenAI highlighted its “breakneck” pace of adoption.
The company revealed that ChatGPT now hosts over 900 million weekly active users and has successfully converted 50 million of them into paying consumer subscribers.
Furthermore, its corporate reach has expanded to nine million businesses, while its Codex tool for software developers has seen usage triple since the start of the year.
To further bolster revenue, the company has also begun introducing advertisements for its non-paying user base.
The massive scale of this funding round is also a strategic defence against a rapidly crowding market.
OpenAI is currently facing intense pressure from well-funded rivals like Anthropic, which recently secured its own $30 billion round, as well as Google’s Gemini and Elon Musk’s xAI.
By securing such a vast war chest and deepening its ties with Amazon and Nvidia, OpenAI aims to accelerate its path toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and maintain its lead in the global AI race.
