Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has backed Viktor Gyokeres to be the catalyst for the club’s historic quadruple pursuit, following the striker’s sensational return to form in 2026.

After a quiet start to his North London career since arriving from Sporting Lisbon, the Swedish forward has silenced critics with an eight-goal scoring spree since the turn of the year.

His recent brace in a -1 victory over Tottenham has cemented his role as the spearhead of an Arsenal attack that is currently outperforming its previous season’s standards.

Arteta emphasised that the 27-year-old is finally finding his rhythm as he adjusts to the tactical demands of the Premier League.

According to the manager, the striker’s teammates have already felt his impact behind the scenes, with Arsenal defenders describing the experience of marking him in training as a “nightmare.”

With 10 league goals already to his name, Gyokeres has provided the clinical edge that the Gunners lacked in previous title charges.

The timing of this scoring streak is critical, as Arsenal currently hold a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League and remain in contention for three other major trophies.

In addition to a League Cup final date with Manchester City and a deep run in the FA Cup, the Gunners were drawn against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday for the Champions League round of 16.

Arteta noted that as Gyokeres continues to build chemistry with his teammates, the team’s “trajectory” looks increasingly formidable.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s London derby against Chelsea, Arteta remains focused on maintaining their momentum.

While Arsenal recently defeated their rivals in the League Cup semifinals, the manager dismissed past results as “irrelevant,” preparing instead for a fresh tactical challenge.

With Gyokeres leading the line, Arsenal enter the weekend knowing that a victory would keep the pressure on Manchester City and keep their dreams of a four-trophy sweep alive.
