Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials have begun sorting and counting of votes at Polling Unit 39, Ward 4, in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State.
The exercise began after voting ended in some parts of Osun State. The INEC officials were seen sorting and counting votes cast by eligible voters at the polling unit. Not left out of the exercise were party agents and stakeholders standing by to observe the process and announcement of the result.
The vote sorting and counting marks the next and crucial stage of the electoral process just after the accreditation and voting. The officials are expected to compile the results before uploading them in line with INEC’s standard procedure.
The Osun governorship election is being contested by candidates from several political parties, including incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking a second term in office.
Voting is taking place across the state’s 30 local government areas with heightened political interest and increased security measures.
This election will determine who leads Osun State for the next four years.
