Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised an alarm over an alleged plot to disrupt and hijack collation centres during the state governorship election.
Adeleke, who is also the Accord Party candidate, made the allegation in posts on his X account on Saturday night, calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene.
The governor asked Tinubu to direct the heads of security agencies deployed for the election to protect voters and safeguard the electoral process.
“Reports of attempts to hijack or disrupt collation centres by desperate and rejected politicians across the state are deeply concerning and unacceptable,” Adeleke wrote.

He urged the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to follow the president’s directives and ensure the election process is not disrupted.
Adeleke also called for full support for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to complete the collation process and announce a credible result.
“I therefore implore you to reiterate the commitment made to the people of Osun State that their votes will count and that the outcome of this election will reflect their genuine choice,” he said.
In a later post, Adeleke claimed he had received information that some individuals had ordered the withdrawal of security personnel from polling units and collation centres across the state.
“This will expose innocent voters, INEC officials and personnel to grave danger from rampaging APC thugs,” he alleged.
The governor called on the Inspector-General of Police and the DSS Director-General to prevent any attempt to disrupt the election.
“The people of Osun State have spoken with one voice, and their voices must be heard. Their votes must be protected, and their mandate must be respected,” Adeleke said.
The allegations come as Osun voters head to the polls, with attention now focused on the security and transparency of the voting, collation and results process.
