The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.
INEC announced the result on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti after Oyebanji secured a commanding victory across all 16 local government areas of the state.
According to the final results contained in Form EC8E, Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 40,543 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Oluwadare Bejide, finished third with 12,872 votes.
The APC candidate won all 16 local government areas, completing a clean sweep across both urban and rural communities.
The INEC State Collation Officer, who supervised the final collation of results from the 16 local government areas, declared Oyebanji winner after confirming that he met the constitutional requirements for election.
She said 6,332 votes were rejected out of 382,109 valid votes cast.
According to the final figures, 384,940 voters were accredited from a total of 988,251 registered voters across the state.

With the victory, Oyebanji secured a second term in office, extending the APC’s control of Ekiti State.
Ahead of the election, the governor received endorsements from political stakeholders across party lines, traditional rulers and grassroots organisations throughout the state’s 16 local government areas.
Oyebanji’s re-election gives him a fresh four-year mandate to continue leading Ekiti State.
