Argentina mounted a spectacular rally in the Autumn Nations Series rugby international, overcoming a massive 21-0 deficit to defeat Scotland 33-24 at Murrayfield.
The Pumas‘ victory came after a sluggish start where Scotland took a commanding 14-0 lead into halftime, which quickly grew to 21-0 early in the second period following hooker Ewan Ashman’s second try.
The match pivoted dramatically in the final quarter.
The tide turned when Argentina capitalised on a loose pass from Scottish fly-half Finn Russell, followed by a yellow card for Scotland’s Blair Kinghorn.

The Pumas exploited their man advantage by launching a relentless assault, scoring five unanswered tries in the final 23 minutes.
Tries from Julian Montoya, Rodrigo Isgro, Pedro Rubiolo, Pablo Matera, and Justo Piccardo, combined with four conversions from replacement Santiago Carreras, sealed the memorable comeback—Argentina’s first win in Edinburgh in 16 years.
The result was crushing for the hosts, who were booed off the field.
Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu expressed extreme disappointment, stating the team had “fallen asleep at the wheel” and needed to “take a really hard look at ourselves.”
Coach Gregor Townsend echoed the frustration, highlighting the “huge momentum swing” and calling the team’s performance in the final 10 minutes “not good enough.”
