Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez have gotten married in a private ceremony in Cascais, marking a new chapter in their decade-long relationship.
Representatives of the football superstar confirmed that the couple tied the knot on Tuesday at the coastal resort town of Cascais, west of Lisbon. The wedding followed days of speculation in Portuguese media over where and when the ceremony would take place.
Ronaldo shared the news with his millions of followers on Instagram by posting a photo of the couple’s hands showing their wedding rings, accompanied by the caption, “C ❤️ G”.
The ceremony was described as “private and intimate” by the Brunswick Group, which handles Ronaldo’s public relations. The couple’s five children were present at the event, according to the group.
The wedding came exactly one year after Rodriguez announced their engagement on Instagram, ending months of public interest in the couple’s plans.
Ronaldo, 41, currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr after a decorated career with clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. The Portugal captain has won the Ballon d’Or five times and remains one of football’s most recognisable figures.
Rodriguez, 32, has also built a global profile beyond her relationship with Ronaldo. She stars in the Netflix series “I am Georgina”, which follows her family life, fashion interests and travels.

Before the ceremony, speculation surrounded several possible locations, including Sintra near Lisbon and Funchal on Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace. Reports suggesting the wedding could take place in Funchal attracted hundreds of people to the city’s cathedral, hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple. However, the cathedral confirmed there was no scheduled wedding for Ronaldo, while describing the possibility of hosting such an event as “an honour”.
The couple eventually chose Cascais, an exclusive seaside destination where they own a villa.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez first met in 2016 when she was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. Rodriguez later described their first meeting as “love at first sight”.
In a 2025 interview with Vogue Arabia, she said she felt “a sense of peace and an inexplicable energy” around Ronaldo, “as if we had known each other forever”.
Together, the pair have created one of the world’s most recognisable celebrity partnerships, with more than 750 million combined followers across social media platforms. Their business interests also extend beyond sport and entertainment, including fashion ventures and hotel investments.
