World No. 1 Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from next week’s Wuhan Open after sustaining a foot injury, tournament organisers announced Sunday on Instagram.

The 27-year-old Kazakh player expressed her regret to fans who were looking forward to seeing her play, adding that she will take time to rest and recover properly from the issue.

The decision follows Rybakina’s second-round loss to 118th-ranked Alina Charaeva at the China Open in Beijing just a day earlier, where she struggled with foot pain during the match.
