A devastating shooting occurred at a school in Türkiye’s Kahramanmaraş province on Wednesday, leaving nine people dead and 13 others wounded.
The attacker, a 13-year-old eighth-grade student, reportedly entered two classrooms and opened fire randomly with weapons believed to belong to his father, a former police officer.
Officials confirmed the suspect was carrying five firearms and multiple magazines.
The teenage gunman died during the incident, though it remains unclear if his death was a suicide or occurred during the ensuing chaos.

Terrifying footage from the scene showed students leaping from first-floor windows to escape the gunfire while others fled through the school courtyard.
Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci updated the casualty toll, noting that several of the injured remain in critical condition.
In response to the violence, authorities have detained the suspect’s father, and high-ranking government ministers have travelled to the southern province to oversee the investigation and provide support to the grieving community.
This tragedy marks the second school shooting in Türkiye in just two days, following an attack in the Şanlıurfa province on Tuesday.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised a full investigation, vowing that any negligence regarding school safety will be met with strict accountability.
While Türkiye has historically maintained rigid gun laws and low rates of school violence, opposition leaders are now calling for an urgent overhaul of security measures, including stricter entrance controls and increased police presence, to address what they describe as a deepening vulnerability in the nation’s educational institutions.
