Three suspects appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the gruesome murder of Isaac David Satlat, a 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver and automotive engineering student.
The accused, a 25-year-old woman and two men, aged 26 and 30, face multiple charges including murder, carjacking, and related offences.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, in Pretoria West. Satlat had accepted a ride request, but dashcam footage from his vehicle captured the shocking moment when passengers, initially described as a male and female, strangled and assaulted him. His body and hijacked car were later discovered in Atteridgeville, just hours after the attack.

The case took a significant turn when the dashcam footage went viral, helping police track down the suspects. The authorities made the arrests after the video evidence was widely circulated. Despite the serious charges, the suspects waived their right to bail during today’s court appearance.
A fourth suspect remains at large, and police have launched an intensive manhunt to locate the individual responsible for this brutal crime. Investigators are continuing their efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice, ensuring accountability for Satlat’s tragic and senseless death.
The case has raised serious concerns about the safety of e-hailing drivers, with many calling for stronger protection measures in the wake of this devastating event.
