Tinubu Meets Boulos in Paris for Security, Economic Talks

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Africa at the U.S. Department of State, on Thursday for a high-level meeting focused on regional security and deepening economic cooperation.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known via his official X handle on Friday.

Held in Paris, where the Nigerian President is on a working visit, the discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between Nigeria, the United States, and regional partners in addressing ongoing security challenges, particularly the protracted conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

According to the US State Department, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working with African and international partners to foster durable peace and stability in the region.

The talks also explored avenues for expanding economic opportunities throughout Africa. President Tinubu and Mr. Boulos emphasised the importance of sustainable investment, trade partnerships, and innovation as drivers of inclusive growth on the continent.

The meeting marks a continuation of Nigeria-U.S. dialogue on strategic partnerships across security, governance, and economic development. It also highlights the increasing attention from global powers on the evolving dynamics in Africa’s Great Lakes region and the broader economic landscape of the continent.
