Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain united and assured citizens that his administration’s reforms would continue to improve security and strengthen the economy.

The President made the remarks in his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

Tinubu said Nigeria is on a path of reconstruction and renewal, noting that the reforms introduced by his administration, though difficult, were necessary to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.

According to him, the sacrifices made over the past three years had begun to yield positive results, including a more stable economy and increased investor confidence, which were expected to drive job creation and economic growth.

“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated.

Tinubu expressed confidence that the government’s reform agenda would continue to deliver improved security and wider opportunities for Nigerians.

He acknowledged that terrorists and bandits still carried out attacks in some communities despite efforts by security agencies, including the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader.

The President assured affected communities that they had not been abandoned and vowed that the government would eventually defeat criminal groups threatening national peace.

Reflecting on the significance of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu urged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, compassion, unity and peaceful coexistence.

He encouraged citizens to support the less privileged, strengthen bonds of brotherhood, and pray for peace, wisdom for leaders, and national progress.

Tinubu also reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a country where citizens could live peacefully, worship freely, and pursue their aspirations without fear.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government declared Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays for the Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the declaration in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
