President Donald Trump says he believes reports that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died following coordinated U.S.‑Israeli military strikes on Iran on Saturday.
Earlier, Israel’s Channel 12, citing unnamed Israeli sources, reported “growing indications” that the 86-year-old leader had been targeted.
Trump told U.S. media that “we feel that that is a correct story” regarding the reports, while also discussing damage to Iran’s senior leadership and infrastructure.
The president said that Khamenei has “killed many people” and has “destroyed a country.”

When asked when he would know Khamenei’s status, Trump responded, “I’ve spoken to a lot of people beyond and we feel certain, we feel, we feel that that is a correct story.”
“The people that make all the decisions, most of them are gone,” he said.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there were “many signs that even the tyrant Khamenei does not exist.”
Iran has not officially confirmed that Khamenei has died, but its Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also told NBC News that Khamenei was still alive “as far as I know.”
Araghchi added that “almost all officials are safe and sound and alive,” noting that Iran may have lost “one or two commanders, but that is not a big problem.”
