Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced plans for a major government reshuffle, proposing to replace Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and to make changes to the leadership of some law enforcement agencies.
Zelensky did not disclose who would take over from Svyrydenko or provide specific reasons for the proposed changes. However, he said the move was part of efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s administration and prepare for new national priorities.
In a statement shared on X, Zelensky thanked Svyrydenko for her service, describing her tenure as prime minister as “clear, steady, and effective.”
“I am grateful to Svyrydenko for her clear, steady, and effective work as Prime Minister, for her years of productive service on Ukraine’s team,” Zelensky said. He added that he had offered her the opportunity to lead “a new and important area of relations with a key partner.”
Svyrydenko was nominated by Zelensky as prime minister last year and has played a key role in managing the government’s economic and administrative affairs during the ongoing war with Russia.
Zelensky said he expected parliament to approve the proposed changes and confirmed that adjustments would also be made among the heads of Ukraine’s law enforcement bodies.

“I expect that, together with MPs, we will make the corresponding changes in the Government of Ukraine. There will also be changes among the heads of law enforcement agencies,” he said.
The Ukrainian leader outlined several priorities requiring attention, including advancing the country’s bid for European Union membership, strengthening border regions, and appointing new officials to oversee foreign policy areas.
“We determined that these changes require a renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers,” Zelensky said, without providing further details.
Any changes to the cabinet require approval from Ukraine’s parliament. While lawmakers have generally supported Zelensky’s administration since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, government appointments can still require political negotiations.
The proposed reshuffle comes as Ukraine continues efforts to manage wartime demands while pursuing closer integration with the European Union and maintaining international partnerships.
