Zimbabwe Sentences South African to Ten Years in Jail for Drug Trafficking

A Court in Zimbabwe has today, sentenced a South African, Shiela Khumalo for trafficking cocaine in Zimbabwe.

Khumalo was today sentenced to an effective 10 years in prison. Two years of the sentence were suspended.

She was apprehended at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in possession of cocaine worth over ZWL$7 million from Brazil and heading to South Africa.

60 plastic sachets of the drug was found in her intestines in May, 2021.
She allegedly excreted 58 sachets of the drug while in police custody

Khumalo was arrested following a tip and was found with a total of 975 grammes of cocaine that she had swallowed.
