Niger State Mine Collapse Claims Three Lives

The collapse of a mining pit in the Adunu community, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State has resulted in the death of three persons.

According to the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Abdullahi Baba’arah, three persons died while one person was rescued at the site.

The DG added that, all those trapped were recovered from the pit following community efforts.

Chairman of the Miners Association of Nigeria, Yusuf Shuaibu, informed reporters that the pit collapsed around 10 am, trapping an unconfirmed number of workers.

The illegal mining site attracted mostly women and children from the community.
