HRW Accuses Israel of ‘Acts of Genocide’ in Gaza

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused Israel of committing “acts of genocide” in Gaza by targeting water infrastructure and cutting off essential supplies, according to a report released Thursday.

The report detailed deliberate damage to water and sanitation systems, including treatment plants, reservoirs, and repair facilities, alongside a blockade on fuel and materials necessary for repairs. These actions have reportedly led to widespread deaths and severe humanitarian consequences.

HRW stopped short of declaring outright genocide, citing the need for specific intent under international law but stated the evidence may meet the threshold for genocidal intent.

Israel has denied the allegations, asserting its actions are legitimate military measures, and criticised similar accusations from other rights organisations.
