Armed Men Kill Two Policemen, Rustle 200 Cows in Kebbi

Some yet-to-be-identified armed men suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group attacked Natsini village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing two policemen and stealing over 200 cows. 

The attack occurred late Thursday around 11 pm, targeting a police checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road.

Witnesses reported that over 50 armed men, riding motorcycles, overpowered the officers before proceeding to rustle the cattle.

A resident, Abubakar Augie, stated that the stolen cows belonged to a well-known civil servant in the area, Lawali Black.

He explained, “The Lakurawa were more than 50 on motorcycles; after overpowering the few policemen at the checkpoint, they went to where the cows were kept in his ranch and went away with them.”

Natsini village is located about 5 kilometres from Argungu town, along the Augie/Kangiwa road. 

The Chairman of Argungu Local Government, Aliyu Gulma, confirmed the incident and revealed that a security meeting was already underway to address the situation.

Gulma added that the state government had directed security operatives to pursue the attackers and recover the stolen livestock.
