Suspected terrorists have demanded a ransom of N250 million for the release of Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (Rtd), a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Tsiga, 67, was abducted alongside several others in his hometown of Tsiga, Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, on Wednesday night, February 6.
Reports indicate that two residents were injured during the attack, while one of the kidnappers was shot dead by his colleagues.
A family source revealed that the kidnappers contacted a relative on Friday night to demand a ransom.

Tsiga, born in 1957, served as the 14th NYSC Director-General, assuming office in January 2009. Before that, he was a military assistant to a former NYSC boss from 1992 to 1994. After retiring, he focused on large-scale farming in his hometown.
His abduction has caused panic among residents, with some reportedly fleeing the area.
Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Aliyu initially declined to comment but later confirmed the incident, stating that security forces are actively working on the case.
Aliyu added that the attack occurred at around 5:30 am on February 6, and despite police efforts, the assailants had already succeeded in their mission before officers arrived.
