Three Palestinian Officers Killed in Israeli Strike

Three Palestinian police officers were killed in an Israeli shelling attack on Sunday while securing the entry of humanitarian aid into Rafah in southern Gaza, despite an ongoing ceasefire agreement, according to official Palestinian sources.

The Gaza Interior Ministry confirmed the deaths, stating that the officers had been stationed in the Al-Shawka area, east of Rafah, to oversee the arrival of humanitarian supplies.

The ministry condemned the strike, urging international mediators and the global community to pressure Israel to cease attacks on the police force, which it described as a civilian entity responsible for public order and daily governance.

Three Palestinian Officers Killed in Israeli Strike While Securing Aid Entry

The deployment of Palestinian police officers to aid entry points was part of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.

However, Palestinian officials have accused Israel of failing to uphold its commitment to allow more humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.

The Israeli military, meanwhile, justified the attack by claiming that its forces had targeted Palestinian fighters who were allegedly advancing towards them in the area.

A ceasefire agreement took effect in Gaza on January 19, pausing Israel’s military campaign, which has so far resulted in the deaths of over 48,200 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, and left much of the enclave devastated.
