African Union to Participate in ICJ Case Regarding Israel’s Role in Palestine

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has granted the African Union permission to take part in a case concerning Israel’s obligations regarding United Nations activities in occupied Palestinian territories.

A statement from the ICJ outlined that the African Union would now be able to contribute information regarding the court’s inquiry into Israel’s obligations related to the presence and activities of the UN, other international organisations, and third-party states in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The African Union is expected to submit a written statement on the matter by February 28, 2025.
