The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Kelvin Izekor for the alleged murder of his 38-year-old wife, Success Izekor, on Saturday.
A viral video showed police officers and residents moving the victim, who had machete wounds on her head, from her apartment into a police van.
Residents were shocked by the tragic incident, as the couple had recently married.
Police spokesperson Moses Yamu stated that officers rescued the suspect from an irate mob and took him into custody. The Commissioner of Police has vowed a thorough investigation into the case.
