US President Donald Trump, 78 is scheduled to have his annual physical examination in the coming weeks, according to a statement from the White House released on Saturday.
“President Donald J. Trump will complete his routine annual physical exam next month at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center,” said the announcement on Saturday.
“The date of his physical exam will be released publicly in the next few weeks,” said the statement, signed by his physician Sean Barbabella, a career military doctor who served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Although Trump has shown energy befitting his age, prior physical evaluations have occasionally raised concerns regarding the details of his health information and the transparency surrounding the results.
While Trump abstains from both alcohol and smoking, he is known for his fondness for fast food and steak, with golfing appearing to be his primary form of exercise.
A physical examination during his initial term in 2018 indicated that the president should try to shed 10 to 15 pounds, yet he was generally in “excellent health.” His physician noted that there were no indications of “any cognitive issues,” and that with a better diet, he could “live to be 200 years old.”
The following year, an examination revealed that the 6-foot-3 Trump weighed 110 kilograms, which was a seven-kilogram gain since just before he took office, classifying him as technically obese. It reported that he was taking medication for high cholesterol.
During Trump’s 2015 presidential campaign, his doctor, Harold Bornstein, issued a letter stating that the candidate’s blood pressure was “astonishingly excellent.” The letter also claimed that if elected, “Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
