Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Major General Eyal Zamir, the newly appointed chief of staff of the Israeli army, decided on Friday not to promote Brigadier General Daniel Hagari to the rank of major general and dismissed him from his position as spokesperson.

In a statement, the Israeli army confirmed that the decision was made after the two agreed on Hagari’s departure. Zamir expressed his “great appreciation” for Hagari’s years of significant combat service for Israel.
