Roma Forward Dybala to Miss Rest of Season After Surgery

Paulo Dybala will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, as Roma confirmed on Thursday that the Argentine forward is set to undergo surgery to address a persistent thigh injury.

The club announced that Dybala would have an operation in the coming days to treat an issue with his left semitendinosus tendon, which he injured during Roma’s 1-0 victory over Cagliari on Sunday. In a statement, Roma said that the decision for surgery was made mutually by the player and the club to ensure the best possible recovery.

Although the club did not specify how long the 31-year-old will be out, with only nine matches left in the Serie A season, his return before the summer is highly unlikely. His absence is a major setback for Roma, who have been in sensational form under Claudio Ranieri.

Since his return as coach in November, the team has transformed from struggling near the relegation zone to becoming one of the most in-form sides in Italy’s top flight.

Dybala has played a crucial role in Roma’s resurgence, scoring eight goals and providing four assists across all competitions. His creativity and attacking flair would have been instrumental in Roma’s push for a Champions League spot.

The Giallorossi currently sit four points behind fourth-placed Bologna and have been in red-hot form, winning their last six Serie A matches. With just six points dropped in 13 league games since their last defeat before Christmas, Dybala’s absence comes at a crucial juncture in their campaign.
