British Ex-Convict Arrested at Lagos Airport with 37kg of Cannabis

A 22-year-old British ex-convict has been apprehended by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Lagos’ Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, after being found in possession of two suitcases packed with 35 parcels of Loud, a potent variant of cannabis, weighing a total of 37.60 kilograms.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, identified the suspect as Campell Kaizra Kofi Johannes Slifer. He was travelling from Thailand via Doha aboard a Qatar Airways flight when the narcotics were discovered.

According to Babafemi, Slifer confessed that he had previously served time in the United Kingdom for drug trafficking and robbery. He said he was recruited in London to travel to Thailand, collect the drugs and transport them to Nigeria.

Just six days earlier, NDLEA operatives also detained Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State, for attempting to smuggle a substantial quantity of cocaine to Iran.

Obehi, who was disguised in a hijab, hid the illicit drugs inside her body, including her private part, stomach, and a hidden compartment in her handbag. She was kept under observation and, over the course of several days, expelled 67 wraps of cocaine.

Babafemi noted that she claimed she was to swallow 70 pellets of cocaine, but after ingesting 67 pieces, she could no longer swallow the remaining three and decided to insert them into her private part.
