Inter Milan kept their hopes of retaining the Serie A crown alive with a hard-fought 2-0 win at Torino on Sunday, in a game twice interrupted—first by a severe downpour and then by a fan falling from the stands.
The match was halted shortly after kick-off when a Torino supporter fell from the Curva Maratona stand at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. According to Italian reports, the fan was not seriously injured.
Goals from Nicola Zalewski and Kristjan Asllani, each netting early in the two halves, were enough to move Inter level on 77 points with league leaders Napoli, who have a game in hand and face Genoa later.
“All we’re focused on is winning our remaining games to head into the Champions League final in the best shape,” said Asllani. “We’re up there with Napoli now—let’s see how it plays out. All we can do is wait.”

Inter, fresh off their marathon Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona in extra time on Tuesday, made nine changes to the starting XI. Despite that, they took the lead in the 14th minute when Zalewski spun and curled in his first goal for the club.
The match was then suspended a minute before the interval due to torrential rain that made the pitch unplayable. Although the first half resumed after a brief delay, the second period was delayed by more than 30 minutes as heavy rain continued.
When play resumed, Inter quickly doubled their advantage. Asllani converted a penalty—his second in successive weeks—after Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic fouled Mehdi Taremi in the box.
That goal secured Inter just their second away victory in their last eight league matches and handed Torino their first home defeat of the year.
Napoli, meanwhile, need only seven points from their final three matches—against Genoa, Parma and Cagliari—to clinch their second Serie A title in three seasons.
Earlier on Sunday, Verona edged closer to survival with a 1-1 draw at home to fellow relegation battlers Lecce. The result puts Paolo Zanetti’s side five points clear of the drop zone with two games remaining.
