Defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz secured his place in the third round at Roland Garros on Wednesday, defeating Fabian Marozsan 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The Spaniard dominated early, taking the first set with ease, although he conceded the second as Marozsan raised his game.
“It was a great match. I started pretty well and felt confident,” Alcaraz said during his on-court interview. “In the second set, he played better and barely missed, which made things trickier.”

Alcaraz, currently ranked world number two, quickly rediscovered the clay-court form that earned him titles in Monte Carlo and Rome ahead of Roland Garros. He powered through the next two sets to seal the victory.
He will next face either France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Bosnia’s Damir Dzumhur in the round of 32.
