Sam Cane, former New Zealand captain sent off in the 2023 Rugby World Cup final loss to South Africa, is in the Barbarians squad to face the Springboks in Cape Town on Saturday.
The Barbarians are set to face the Springboks in an exhibition match in Cape Town this Saturday.
The 33-year-old flanker recently retired from Test rugby after 104 appearances for the All Blacks and has since moved to Japan to play for Tokyo Sungoliath.
He is joined in the 23-man Barbarians squad by a couple of Ireland’s Test centurions, prop Cian Healy and flanker Peter O’Mahony, both of whom concluded their international careers this year.
New Zealander Robbie Deans will coach the Barbarians, who are making their first appearance in South Africa.
The Barbarians will be aiming for their fifth victory in nine matches against the reigning four-time world champions.
