Israeli airstrikes on Sunday killed at least 27 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, according to the territory’s civil defence agency.
Among the casualties were six individuals near a water distribution point and multiple women and children.
Mahmud Bassal, a civil defence spokesman, reported that Gaza City was hit by several overnight and early morning strikes, resulting in eight deaths, including women and children, and multiple injuries. Another strike on a family home near the Nuseirat refugee camp, south of Gaza City, left 10 people dead and several injured.
Displaced Persons Affected Amid Intensified Operations

Bassal further stated that an airstrike “hit a potable water distribution point… in an area for displaced people west of the Nuseirat camp,” leading to six deaths and several injuries. In the southern Gaza Strip, three people were killed when Israeli jets struck a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in the coastal Al-Mawasi area.
The Israeli military has not yet commented on these latest strikes. These incidents occurred more than 21 months into the conflict, which began with Hamas’ October 2023 attack, as Israel has recently intensified its operations across Gaza.
The ongoing conflict has displaced the vast majority of Gaza’s population of over two million people at least once, creating severe humanitarian conditions within the territory.
Due to Israel’s media restrictions and difficulties accessing many areas, AFP is unable to independently verify the tolls and details provided by the civil defence agency and other parties.
