Former Liverpool and Manchester United player Paul Ince has received a 12-month driving ban and a fine of £7,085 ($9,524) following a drink-driving incident.
Ince acknowledged driving his black Range Rover while intoxicated on June 28 in Cheshire. The former England captain recorded a breath alcohol level of 49 microgrammes per 100 millilitres when stopped by police, as revealed in Chester Magistrates Court on Friday.
Prosecutor Nigel Jones stated, “On the day in question, an off-duty police officer observed the defendant driving a vehicle that appeared to be swerving across the road.”
He added that the 57-year-old’s vehicle veered across the central reservation, struck bollards, and resulted in two flat tyres.
Frank Rogers, representing Ince, said, “My client is now facing the serious consequences of a driving ban, and he acknowledges that he has no one to blame but himself.”
Rogers explained that Ince had been at Heswall Golf Club and had not eaten before consuming two drinks in the clubhouse.

“He believed he was okay to drive, but we now understand that he should not havedone so,” Rogers stated.
District Judge Jack McGarva admonished Ince, saying, “The message must be clear: if you’re going to drive, you must not drink at all.”
Ince, who also played for Inter Milan and West Ham, earned 53 caps for England and secured two Premier League titles among numerous accolades during his six years as a midfielder for United.
After retiring, he transitioned into management, with his latest role at Reading concluding in 2023.
