Brentford has accepted Manchester United’s bid of £65million for Bryan Mbeumo, and the Cameroon international may have a medical with the club before Ruben Amorim’s squad travels to the United States on Tuesday for their pre-season tour.

The forward, 25, is expected to be United’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of forward Matheus Cunha and left-back Diego Leon.

United’s initial offer of £55m was submitted at the beginning of June. They had a second unsuccessful bid of £62.5m at the end of that month. Nevertheless, Brentford is pleased with United’s most recent offer, which starts at £65m and has the potential to increase to £70m with £5m in add-ons.

Mbeumo achieved career-best numbers in the Premier League last season in almost every attacking category, including goals and assists, chances created, and touches in the opponent’s penalty area. With a shot conversion rate of 23.53%, he was only outperformed in clinical finishing by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

His defensive contributions in crucial areas are also noteworthy; he regained possession 32 times in the opposition’s third, making him the third-best in the Premier League.

However, Mbeumo’s standout feature may be his ability to threaten defences while dribbling; he recorded nine carries of over five metres that directly led to a goal in the 2024-25 season, the highest for any player in the Premier League last season.

Having joined the Bees in 2019 from Troyes, Mbeumo will become Brentford’s most expensive sale in history.
