Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the state’s Executive Council and appointed a new Chief of Staff.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor announced that Moses Atagher, a former two-term Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, would assume the role of Chief of Staff with immediate effect.
Atagher, described as an experienced administrator, also served as the acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank.
The dissolution of the cabinet followed the conclusion of the 12th Executive Council meeting of 2025. Governor Alia expressed appreciation to the outgoing commissioners, thanking them for their two years of service.
He encouraged those not reappointed to remain committed to the party and to continue supporting the administration, noting that new appointments would allow others the opportunity to serve the state.
The governor clarified that the dissolution affects only the commissioners, with other aides and officials retaining their positions.
Speaking on behalf of the outgoing commissioners, Bemsen Mnyim thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing the experience as a valuable learning period.
All former commissioners have been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries without delay.
