A nursery assistant in France is facing charges for the alleged rape and sexual assault of nine young children.
The public prosecutor’s office in Montpellier confirmed the charges against the 59-year-old woman, who was arrested following an investigation prompted by complaints from the families of two children at a nursery school in Vic-La-Gardiole.
The charges relate to alleged offences, including digital penetration and masturbation, which are believed to have occurred between October 2024 and July 2025. The children involved are all aged between three and four.
The initial complaints were lodged on July 2, leading to the suspect’s immediate suspension from her role the following day as a precautionary measure. An investigation into the alleged rape and sexual assault of minors under the age of 15 by a person in a position of authority was officially opened on July 29.
The woman has since been charged by an investigating judge with committing these acts against nine children and is currently being held in pre-trial detention.
