Ademola Lookman has formally submitted a transfer request to Atalanta in a bid to force through a move to Inter Milan, amid rising tensions between the Nigerian forward and his current club.
The 27-year-old’s decision follows Atalanta’s rejection of Inter’s latest offer—€42 million guaranteed with an additional €3 million in bonuses. Despite the improved terms and a personal agreement already in place between Lookman and Inter for a five-year contract worth €4.5 million per year, Atalanta are reportedly holding out for a fee closer to €50 million.
Inter Milan have made Lookman their top attacking target this summer, with club president Giuseppe Marotta confirming active negotiations and expressing confidence in reaching a deal. While other options such as Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku have been considered, Lookman remains Inter’s priority.
The forward is said to be increasingly frustrated by Atalanta’s firm stance, especially given his desire to join a club with strong domestic and European ambitions. He has been excluded from recent pre-season fixtures and has removed references to Atalanta from his social media, underlining the breakdown in relations.
Lookman’s formal transfer request places further pressure on Atalanta to reconsider their position, as the situation threatens to overshadow what has otherwise been a successful spell at the Gewiss Stadium for the former Everton and RB Leipzig man.
