West Ham United wrapped up their pre-season tour of the United States with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, sealing their second win in three matches during the Premier League Summer Series.

Goals from Niclas Füllkrug and Jarrod Bowen secured the result for the Hammers in Atlanta, with both strikes assisted by new signing El Hadji Malick Diouf. The Senegalese left-back, who only joined the London club on 15 July, made an immediate impact with pinpoint deliveries that led directly to both goals.

Bowen was full of praise for Diouf, saying, “Both goals came from his quality. He’s only been here a few weeks, but you’d think he’s been part of the team for years. He’s humble, a great character in the squad, and clearly a top player. We’re excited about what he’ll bring.”

The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Diouf played a low cross to Bowen inside the area. With defenders closing in, Bowen slid the ball across to Füllkrug, who made no mistake from close range. The second goal arrived in the 67th minute, with Bowen again benefiting from a Diouf pass, this time guiding a composed finish into the far corner.

Bournemouth threatened early on and were unlucky not to score in the opening 15 minutes, twice denied by the woodwork.

Reflecting on the performance, Bowen highlighted the team’s resilience. “We didn’t start as well as we wanted, but we stuck together. The spirit and unity in the squad really showed. It was a strong display of character.”

West Ham had earlier lost 2-1 to Manchester United in the opening fixture of the mini-tournament but rebounded with a 2-1 win over Everton before Sunday’s triumph.

“We’ve taken a lot of positives,” Bowen added. “All three matches have been tough, competitive games against Premier League sides. We’ve shown signs of what we can do ahead of the new season.”
