Darwin Nunez concluded his time at Liverpool as the Uruguayan forward moved to Al-Hilal on a three-year deal on Saturday. The Saudi Pro League club secured a transfer worth 53 million euros (£46.3 million) for the 26-year-old.
Nunez joined Liverpool in June 2022 from Benfica for an initial payment of £64 million, arriving with significant expectations. He scored 40 goals in 143 games for the Reds but started only eight Premier League matches during their championship-winning season last year.

Nunez has joined the Al-Hilal team at their pre-season training camp in Germany.
His exit may impact Liverpool’s efforts to acquire Swedish striker Alexander Isak, especially after Newcastle rejected an initial proposal of £110 million. Nunez departs Liverpool without achieving the lofty goals that were anticipated following his considerable transfer from Benfica.
There were memorable highlights that many on Merseyside will cherish: his late brace that secured a victory for 10-man Liverpool at Newcastle in August 2023, a dramatic last-minute goal against Nottingham Forest in March 2024, and two stoppage-time strikes against Brentford in January of this year, which ensured Nunez leaves England as a Premier League champion.
