An agent for the Action Peoples Party (APP), Bishop Oscar Siminilayi,
has made allegations of electoral manipulation during the conduct of the local council elections in Rivers State.
Siminilayi claimed to have witnessed ballot stuffing by electoral officers.
He said, the incident occurred as the voting process was nearing its completion. “By the time I said, ‘Let me greet one of my uncles and come back,’ I saw where the officers were putting some ballots into the box while we had no printers on the ground,” he stated.
He condemned the act, calling it a direct violation of the electoral act. Siminilayi alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) were attempting to gain an unfair advantage.

He described the situation as “electoral manipulation” and a clear attempt to undermine the integrity of the election.
“For you to play three different political parties in eight months is what they call electoral manipulation –trying to do something that is against the Electoral Act,” Siminilayi said, expressing his frustration over the alleged irregularities.
In a similar relation, APP Chairmanship, Opobo LGA
candidate Barrister Kelvin Soki said there were no result sheets at his polling unit. He called on RSIEC to look into the matter.
The APP which was backed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara won 22 out of 23 chairmanship seats in the annuled LG elections in October 2024.
