Renowned chef, Hilda Baci, has embarked on her latest ambitious endeavour to achieve a Guinness World Record (GWR), this time for preparing the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The event, which begins on Friday at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, had to be moved from its initially intended site at Muri Okunola Park to cater to an increase in registered participants. The chef had previously announced her plans to use 250 bags of rice for the record-breaking attempt.
Baci first rose to prominence in May 2023 when she set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. However, Irish chef Alan Fisher eclipsed her record in November of the same year.

Baci, who once held the record for the longest cooking marathon, is taking on this new challenge with a specially designed pot that is six meters wide.

In a recent update on Instagram, Baci provided glimpses of the preparations, proudly displaying the enormous pot and playfully stating that she had cleaned it herself to ensure it was “squeaky clean.”
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making,” she wrote.
