News Central Media Limited has issued a strong statement condemning the harassment and intimidation of its journalists while covering the fire outbreak at Mandilas, Lagos Island, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

In the press release published on Wednesday, September 17, the management described the treatment of its reporter and production team as “unacceptable” and a clear violation of press freedom guaranteed under Section 39 of the Nigerian Constitution. The company stressed that such actions erode the vital role of the press in informing the public.

Reaffirming its commitment to “fearless, responsible reporting,” News Central vowed that no threats or obstruction would deter it from its mission. The organisation also urged authorities to safeguard journalists and ensure that those behind the harassment are held accountable.
