The Rivers State House of Assembly reconvened on Thursday, following the end of a six-month state of emergency imposed by President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu lifted the emergency rule on September 17, directing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the House to resume their duties on September 18.

Speaker Martins Amaewhule presided over the plenary session, which took place in the conference hall of the legislative quarters in Port Harcourt. The lawmakers have used the hall as a temporary chamber since the state government demolished their official complex on Moscow Road after it was torched.
