The United Nations (UN) Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Ramiz Alakbarov, has condemned Israel’s continuing military operations in Gaza, stating that the resulting crisis is unacceptable from both a moral and legal standpoint.

“I condemn the killing of civilians in Gaza, including women and children,” he told the Council. “The situation in Gaza is morally, politically and legally intolerable.”

He warned that famine in Gaza is now a “man-made disaster,” underscoring the urgency of international action to prevent further loss of life.

The UN official’s remarks come amid mounting global criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, with governments, aid agencies and rights groups calling for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access.
